I would like to invite you to attend the Great American Trail Horse Sale and Competition. This is a unique sale that brings together some of the finest trail and family horses in the country. We offer an opportunity on Friday for you to see these horses and talk with the consignors. You can also watch some of them compete on a natural trail course on Friday evening. During the day on Friday we will have some wonderful speakers and clinicians for you to enjoy. Saturday morning will be the Finals of the Trail Competition followed by the Horse Sale at 12:00 noon. Following the sale will be several new Trail Challenges!

Speaker & Trail Master, Tom Seay

Best of America by Horseback



This year's special speaking guest is Tom Seay, executive director, host and trail master of Best of America by Horseback. The RFDtv show that is America's favorite trail riding program. Tom will be there to share his travel tips and trail stories from many of the beautiful riding destinations he has traveled to around this country. From the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Alaskan wilderness, Tom and his wife Pat, along with their crew, have traveled and ridden some of the most spectacular areas available to trail riders.

In 1995, Tom organized the "Transcontinental Ride" from Savannah, GA to San Diego, CA. He was the trail master of this 3,000 mile trip that took 4 1/2 months to complete and every step of the way on horseback.

The Great American Trail Horse Sale and Competition is very pleased to have Tom Seay attending our event. Don't miss this opportunity to meet him and hear him speak about his wonderful adventures.

Having made a career from training and showing horses along with teaching youth, amateur and adult riders, Jackie is familiar with all the ins and outs of horse and rider compatibility. She also produces the Great American Trail Horse Sale and will help you learn purchasing techniques for in and out of the sale ring.

Making a Good Horse ....for the Trails or Competition



Joe Most and his horse Tuff were selected as a finalist for the new, equine reality TV show on HRTV called America's Favorite Trail Horse. They competed against hundreds of horses around the country to become a finalist. Joe will speak and demonstrate on what it takes to make a good trail riding horse and a competitive trail horse. His horse Tuff is a shining example of the kind of horse that we all would love to own and ride.

With 25 years experience as a farrier, Joe will also speak on the Biomechanical Balance system for the equine athlete and hoof care for the performance and trail horse.

The American Competitive Trail Horse Association will be holding auditions for the second season of their national reality tv series, America's Favorite Trail Horse. Come audition or watch these great trail horses and riders compete for a chance to be on the show and win a share of over $100,000 in cash and prizes!

Trophy Buckle and Prize money (according to number of entries) will be awarded.*
*There must be 8 or more entries for a 50% payback.


Youth Division - 17 & Under
Trophy and prizes (No money paid in youth division)

This is a competition that challenges horse and rider over natural
obstacles which will be consistent with a trail riding environment
and ranch type activities. Horses will be judged on athletic
ability, willingness, response to commands and performance.

This event is open to riders of all ages and
abilities and all breeds are welcome.

2011 TRAIL COMPETITION WINNERS

A 6 year old AQHA Palomino mare, Lot #22, Skips Pretty Rosalie won 1st place in the competition. She was consigned by J & J Farms of Marion, Kentucky.


A crowd favorite, Lot # 36 Buddy, a 40 inch Black Pony, was 2nd place in the competition and one of the High Selling Horses at $8,000! He was consigned by Ray Raber of Ohio.


Our second High Seller was Lot #34, Blazes Little Skip, an APHA Black Tobiano Gelding, he also sold for $8,000 and was 3rd in the competition. He was consigned by Clarence Schlabach of Ohio.

Dogs are no longer permitted on the Coliseum concourse or at any ring entry point unless crated. All dogs must be on hand-held or tied leashes in or around the barns and parking areas. Pet owners violating this new policy will be subject to a $100 fine.
